An FEF Dinner to Remember by Troy Clarkson

“No is the beginning of a relationship.” That seems like an odd way to start a column and an even odder way to start a relationship, but it is exactly what Lyn McNaught explained to me was the beginning of her relationship with the Falmouth Education Foundation (FEF).

Falmouth Education Foundation Helps Teachers Expand Learning Experiences
 by Tucker Clark

On two perfect autumn days, students in Falmouth High School’s Advanced Placement Art and Literature classes went outside to continue a year-long project that brings them together with some of Cape Cod’s richest resources, human and environmental. Thanks to studio AP Art teacher Jane Baker, AP Literature teacher Lauren Kenny, the generosity of local scientists, and a grant of $8,951 from the Falmouth Education Foundation, students learned firsthand how climate change is affecting their land and ocean.

High School Educators Recognized
Falmouth High School educators Lauren Kenny and Jane Baker were recognized for their efforts in this year’s State Energy Secretary’s Awards for Excellence in Energy and Environmental Education.  Ms. Kenny and Ms. Baker were acknowledged for their collaborative 2019 Transcendartists Project, which consisted of a series of assignments which asked students to reflect on the work of Transcendentalist writers, while incorporating visits to conservation lands, meditation studies and frequent journal entries in words and sketches. The project was funded by the Falmouth Education Foundation.
