The Eighth Annual Falmouth Flag Day 5K Run/Walk will be held on Sunday, June 10 at 10 a.m. Registration is open at www.FalmouthFlagDay5K.org. The first 250 who sign up will receive an official T-shirt designed by a Falmouth High School student Jeremy Raber! The number of entries is limited, so please sign up soon to ensure your place.

Race co-directors Jo-Ann Leaf, Kathy and Rich Sherman, Patrick Lentell have once again named Falmouth Education Foundation as the race proceeds recipient. Last year the race raised more than $13,000!

Raffles include Red Sox tickets, compliments of WEEI. Numerous open and age-group prizes and gift certificates, donated by local businesses including gift certificates from Hanlon Shoes of Hyannis, will be awarded.

Children’s races for ages 9 and under on the ball field in Falmouth Heights start at 8:45 a.m. sharp. No pre-registration is required. Gifts and snacks, plus finisher medals, will be given to all who participate in the children’s event. In the 5K, medals will be awarded to finishers 17-and-under.

We are delighted to welcome five principal sponsors back to the race: Falmouth Hospital/Cape Cod Sports Medicine, The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Liam Maguire’s Irish Pub and Slade Mortgage Group. We are also pleased to announce the new running gear sponsor, Hanlon Shoes of Hyannis, and the online registration sponsor, RunReg.com. Supporting sponsors include Cape Cod Chips, Clif Bar, Dunkin’ Donuts, Jack in the Beanstalk, Nauset Disposal, Ocean Spray, Poland Spring, Soft as a Grape and WEEI Sports Radio.

We also appreciate our other supporters: Anytime Fitness, Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office, British Beer Company, Casino Wharf FX, and Melanoma Foundation of New England.

This year we are pleased to announce that Patrick Lentell of SEMCSports.com will manage and promote the event. Patrick has extensive experience directing a number of popular races on Cape Cod, including the Cape Cod Beer Race to the Pint on May 6.

If you have any questions or would like to help the race as a volunteer, patron or sponsor, or would like to donate a prize for one of the age-group winners, please e-mail us at FlagDay5K@gmail.com.
