Mini-Grants

There are two types of Mini-Grants:

  • Teacher Opportunity Mini-Grants

  • Student Impact Mini-Grants

An Ellen Barol Student Impact grant was awarded in spring 2022 to two students at East Falmouth Elementary, who created an immersive art experience to introduce other students to artist Yayoi Kusama.

Teacher Opportunity Mini-Grants

Teacher Opportunity Fund (TOF) Mini-grants are awarded throughout the academic year. FEF is in its eighth year of awarding these grants to teachers and administrators who discover during the academic year that they want to undertake an unanticipated activity with their students, attend a conference or purchase supplies or equipment. This program of mini-grants may make these possible.

Teacher Opportunity Fund Mini-Grant Application Requirements

  • Must be submitted between September 1 and June 1 for the current academic year. Responses to applications are usually made within two weeks and can range from $25 to $350.

  • You will need letters of support from your principal. Teachers in grades 7-12 will need to get approval from their department head as well as their principal.

Before applying, please note that grants are only for:

  • Unexpected activities that enhance or impact learning.

  • Opportunities that are not part of the school's regular budget.

  • Activities that do not require any parental/guardian funding.

  • Reimbursement. The reimbursement form can be found here: FEF Reimbursement Form (The exception are for those requiring transportation for students.)

You can submit up to two applications for mini-grants a year. Please make sure that you have submitted an assessment report on any prior grants before requesting a new grant. The assessment report is brief and can be found here: Assessment Report.

“The process to secure a mini-grant was simple and straightforward. It’s a great way to secure funds to do something to help your classroom or help you to grow as a teacher. I look forward to applying for grants in the future!”
