FEF IN ACTION
October 6, 2015 | 6:30-8:30 p.m. Hermann Room, Falmouth Public Library, Main Street Our free, fall celebration of grantee work features Falmouth Public Schools teachers and students presenting their innovative new projects, along with a reception and exhibition.
Presenters
Corine Adams Falmouth Tea Party, Falmouth High School Corine Adams’ students learned about Falmouth's history from members of the Historical Society, then created ceramic representations of Falmouth's past.
Nancy Ashworth, Laney Cooke-Johnson and Nadia Gillis Early Childhood Education, District-wide Two years of FEF funding have supported the district-wide Tools of the Mind curriculum at the pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten levels. Grants have purchased book sets that are the basis of the Tools thematic units, as well as technology to assess skill levels.
Christine Brothers Advanced Placement Environmental Science, Falmouth High FEF funds, along with grants from other sources, were used to purchase materials and equipment (books, DVD’s, lab equipment, maps, posters, kits, etc.) for hands-on projects in this new course.
Carrie Shanahan Reflex Math, Teaticket Elementary Carrie Shanahan expanded the Reflex Math Club, which was started as an engaging and interactive way to increase math fluency. Participating second-graders showed a 154% increase in their math facts knowledge over the four weeks of use.
